Notes:
Served in Revolutionary War Granted a license to sell liquor The State of South Carolina Newberry District On this 9th day of December in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen; before me personally appears William Plantt, Sen, aged about 61 years resident in Newberry District in the state aforesaid, who being by me first duly sworn according to Law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provission made by the state act of congress entitled "An act to provide for certain persons any age in the Revolutionary War". That he the said William Plantt, Senr, enlisted in Hanover County, Virginia, under Capt. Richard C. Anderson in the contenental service for the term of two years, who commanded him as a recruiting officer until he marched him to head-quarters at Williamsburg in the same state, at which place he was mustered under the command of Col. Scott, from thence he was marched to Little York, from thence by water to the head of Elk (?) in the State of Maryland from thence to Willmington in the state of Delaware, from thence to Philadelphia, at which place he was transfered to the command of George Washington under whose command he remained until discharged.; during all which time he was engaged actively against the common enemy-that he was in the Battle of Brandywine, Germantown, at the taking of the Hessians at Linton, and in some skirmishing parties;-that he was honorably discharged at the Valley Forge Pen. by William Russell (who signed his name on the discharge, the Col Comdnt of Peter Mulenburgs Brigade). That he is in reduced circumstances and stands in need of the assistance of his country for support and that he has lost or mislaid all other evidence which would be necessary to prove the above statement. Sworn ???? 9 dec 1819 D. Johnson William Plantt This document is signed by William Plantt in a very beautiful handwritting. He was certainly educated. He was listed as a pensioner in Belfast, SC.
